Haiti's Victory

Thanks for praying and fasting with us this Wednesday, June 16.
Haiti's president recently did something that will shape Haiti's future for the good. He cancelled their annual Mardi Gras-type activities, and instead, he called the whole nation to pray and fast! They went from old wine to new wine, from bitter to better, from tragedy to triumph, and from hopeless trust in mankind to true hope in the living God!
More and more Christians are awakening to the power and joy of combining fasting with their prayers on a regular basis. Fasting reminds us to pray continually and for what reason we are praying. Fasting also uniquely grabs God's attention.
Thanks for praying and fasting with hundreds of others each Wednesday as we stand in the gap for ourselves, our city, and our country, and for the global advancement of the gospel. It is making a difference!
Let's pray for ourselves.
Dear Lord,
We have failed to realize that to call You 'Lord' means that You are our owner and boss. Help us to daily die to our own 'ownership,' and to dedicate ourselves fully to seeing how famous we can make Your name.
Let's pray for our city and country.
Dear Lord,
We pray that our nation's leaders will humbly submit themselves to You alone. Give them Your wisdom as to how we can stop this oil spill. Bring people of godly influence into their lives today, we pray.
Let's pray for the global advance of the gospel.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the willingness of Haiti's president to humble himself and lead his country in prayer and fasting. We pray that the humility will run deep and lasting. We pray for Your hedge of protection upon him and his family. And we pray for all Christian efforts in this country to bear fruit that will remain. We also pray for Your favor and direction in every way as Oasis World Ministries plans its first Haiti gospel crusade possibly in September. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
