Sonshiny Day
June 9, 2010
“When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I” (Psalm 91).
Thanks for praying and fasting with us this Wednesday, June 9.
A few years ago, a Midwestern corporation took some of its staff up in an airplane to see the sun. You see, it had been 30 consecutive cloudy days, and everyone was feeling the blues. So on day 31, they flew above the clouds to see the sun, and on day 32, the sun broke through the clouds.
Let's face it, there are many things in this world that can get us down and depressed, just watch the news. Any time we're feeling the blues, God has a safe place for us to get back in balance to remain focused. It's called... prayer. That's where we let His Son shine on our day. God's presence promises 'fullness of joy' and 'perfect peace.' It's hard to get better than that. So let's give our cares to Him today...right now, as we pray.
Let's pray for ourselves.
Dear Lord,
When we mess things up, we desperately need your help to make things right again. Please forgive us for being so fiercely independent. Only You hold the lasting solution to our problems and cloudy days. We admit our utter and total need for Your Son to light our way. Please help us.
Let's pray for our city and country.
Dear Lord,
We are in trouble. Our freedoms are being challenged, and our economy is like a yo-yo. We can't even plug up a gushing oil well that is ruining Your ocean. Forgive our city for thinking we can govern ourselves better than You. Please forgive us for walking away from Your Bible and Your plan. We ask for Your mercy on America. You are the God who does not change. You are the only constant in our lives. Let Your Sonshine warm our hearts. Please do whatever it takes to draw us to our knees and back to You again.
Let's pray for the global advance of the gospel.
Dear Lord,
We ask for Your blessing on Israel and on Jerusalem. Give their leaders wisdom, discernment, and favor as they see the whole world turning away from them. Bring a great movement of spiritual hunger amongst the Jewish people. Help the Jewish Christians be strong in their faith, and be a catalyst to both Palestinians and fellow Jews to show Your loving-kindness. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
