"If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land" (II Chronicles 7:14).
If God wants us to have 'child-like' faith, then it must be so simple that even a child can follow His directions. The gospel is simple, but we tend to make it complex. God says we must repent for ourselves, and then we can expect Him to do what we cannot. Our NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER is this Thursday, May 6. Visit www.ndpminnesota.org for details. 1. Let's pray for ourselves.
Dear Lord,
We admit we are a proud and independent people. We tend to call on you usually when face a crisis. We humble ourselves in fasting and prayer today, asking You to forgive us, restore us and equip us to be soldiers in Your army that reflect Your character, Your mercy and Your power.
2. Let's pray for our cities and country.
Dear Lord,
Our country is in deep trouble because the church has lost much of its first love. We have bought into the culture of an earthly kingdom, instead of laying up treasures in a heavenly kingdom. Forgive us for 'loving things' instead of 'loving God and loving people'. Little by little we have devalued our time in Your word and in Your presence. We have felt we are doing You a favor by showing up for a quick Sunday service. Thanks for Your patience, and thanks for doing whatever it takes to bring our churches and our country back to its first love. We pray for Your blessing upon Israel, Your wisdom for our elected leaders, and Your passion to fill our hearts again. Forgive us from drifting away. Today we make a pledge to return to You with all our heart.
3. Let's pray for the global advance of the gospel.
Dear Lord,
We cover evangelist Tom Elie and Darrell Dobbelmann as they travel again to India for two powerful Festivals in towns that have never hosted one before. Please protect them and their families and their team. Please give favor with all the authorities. And please bring fame to Your name through signs and wonders, and let many people pass from spiritual darkness to spiritual light. In Jesus' mighty name we pray, amen!
