America Belongs To God

“Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength on my head” (Psalm 108:8a).
When I was a kid, we sang, “This land is your land, this land is my land, from California to the New York islands…this land was made for you and me.”
God has a similar song. His song says that “He reigns over ALL the earth.” In other words, all seven continents are His. Thus, America belongs to God.
Today, we can pray a similar prayer of declaration… confessing that Jesus is Lord. It means He is boss or owner of our lives, our city, and our nation.
Let’s pray it confidently right now.
Let’s pray for ourselves.
Dear Lord,
We confess You as Lord of our lives. We relinquish our rights, our selfishness, and our stubbornness. We yield total and complete ownership to You. Remind us that you have bought us with a great price, and we belong to You.
Let’s pray for our city and America.
Dear Lord,
We declare in faith today that ‘Jesus Christ is Lord over America.’ We speak to the evil principalities and declare, ‘the Lord rebukes you.” We declare that Jesus is Lord over the Twin Cities of Minnesota (you insert your own city). We thank You that You will reign in our families, our churches, our businesses, and our government. Help all in leadership to be aware of their total need of Your direction.
Let’s pray for the global advance of the gospel.
Dear Lord,
Today we remember those who are suffering physically or emotionally because of their faith in You. We ask for Your protection and that Your grace will surround them in their time of need. We bind the lies of the enemy that would try to disconnect them from their strong faith. We ask for Your favor to surround them, and for them to sense the support of the Church during the trial of their faith. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, amen.
