In the Sanctuary

March 8, 2010
As I was reading in Psalms this morning, I came upon a great verse. “Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary, who is so great a God as our God?” Psalm 77:13.
God reminds us that His ways are not found within human logic or changing ethical standards. His ways are unchangeable and holy. We won’t learn His ways from a secular system, but only within His presence.
This is why prayer and fasting are SO VITAL to our continued growth as Christians. Our secular world bombards us daily with reasons to place our trust within ourselves and a worldly logic. But God’s ways are only found in His presence and in His word. And He invites us to make our way in prayer.
So let’s pray…
1. For ourselves
Dear God of the universe,
Forgive us for our propensity to trust in ourselves. Our own instincts continually lead us down the wrong path. We run back to Your presence and Your ways. We again die to ourselves, so You can accomplish Your plan in and through us. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
2. For America
Dear Father God,
Forgive us for departing from the faith of our fathers, thinking we are now the enlightened generation. Bring America back to its roots of simple faith in the God of the Bible. We desperately need Your wisdom… now. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
3. For the global advance of the gospel
Dear Lord,
You clearly see that things are ramping up in the Middle East with Iran recently signing a mutual defense treaty with Syria and Qatar. As preparations are being made to attack Israel, You are the God who promised to protect Israel, and also bring a great end times revival to the Jewish people. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We pray for wisdom for both Israel’s and America’s leaders. And we pray the fear of the Lord will increase throughout our world as people increasingly become disenfranchised with man’s ability to bring peace to the Middle East region. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
