Suffering

Why is America suffering so much? I suppose there are many reasons. But Christians must ask this question. And we must ask God for an answer.
Are we suffering because of the sins of abortion, greed, materialism, lust, homosexuality, rebellion and a million other issues? Perhaps.
Maybe the main issue has more to do with the absence of righteousness. God told Abraham that He would spare the sin-filled city of Sodom and Gomorrah if only ten righteous people were found in this village of 600 or so. Only six were found.
I wonder if Christianity were passionate about Jesus, would America have the problems we have now? If the church were as passionate about Jesus as we are about football, would America look different?
Lukewarm Christianity is abhorrent to God, and He said He would spit it out of His mouth (Revelation 3:14-19). God is calling Christians worldwide to pray for America. If America loses God’s favor, the whole world will be affected.
Let’s pray….
1. Let’s pray for ourselves
Lord, we need you badly… right now. We ask You to show us any areas in our lives that displease Your holiness. Reveal any spiritual cancers in our hearts so we can repent and turn from them. We love You enough to want You to cleanse us thoroughly.
2. Let’s pray for the USA
Lord, forgive us for any lukewarm Christianity. Ignite the fire of Your Spirit within our hearts again. Do whatever it takes to bring us to our knees in humility and holiness. If needed, send missionaries to America so the church will again be awakened.
3. Let’s pray for the global advance of the gospel
Lord, we continue to lift up the people of Haiti. Help them through this terrible hardship. And we pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus to all of their hearts. We bind the spirits of voodoo and any demonic influence in Jesus’ name. Open their spiritual eyes to Your amazing grace. In Jesus’ name, amen
