Haiti
January 20, 2010
In light of Haiti's catastrophic earthquake and the immense suffering we see on TV, here's a scripture to give them hope.
Here it is:
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in time of trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way" (Psalm 46).
In every hardship there is a silver lining–God. He isn't just a God for the good-times. He is God for all the time. We have hardship on earth because there is human sin, an evil devil, and a just God. If only human sin and an evil devil were in control, then there would be no hope.
BUT, there is a just God who will give the Haitians comfort and help if they will cry out to Him.
The United States has had its share of catastrophes, too. But when God's people cry out to Him in repentance, God's heart is moved to bring favor. God has promised a blessing to those who seek and honor Him as their one true God.
So let's pray…
1. Let's pray for ourselves
Lord, we humble ourselves. You are God and we are not. We are desperately in need of your guidance, protection and forgiveness. We all need your touch every day.
2. Let's pray for the USA
Lord, Your Bible says, "blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." We are following after other gods more and more. Please forgive us, and equip us to follow Your Bible without compromise, no matter what others say or think.
3. Let's pray for the global advance of the gospel
Lord, we lift up the dear people of Haiti. You died for their sin, and You love them dearly. Bring great comfort, medical help, and emotional healing to them. Let them know that only You can heal their land. Forgive Haiti of their sin… whether it is lukewarm Christianity or voodoo devil worship. Let the name of Jesus be loved in this country. Have mercy on these people we pray. Amen.
