E-mail Prayers

Urgent call to prayer and fastingJanuary 11, 2010

Have you ever been "forwarded" an e-mail with a powerful thought.

Think of the thousands of people we can communicate with instantly via the Internet and e-mail. Then think of how the Internet and e-mail can help Christians unite in prayer. Think about the power that united prayer by God's people would have.

If every Christian really understood the power we have through prayer, we'd be speechless. So, why not "forward" this e-mail to every believing friend you know, and invite them to join us in our Wednesday prayer and fasting.

Let's begin our prayer with ourselves

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise" (Psalm 51:17). God's Word says that a humble spirit and broken heart are what impress Him.

Lord, thank You for continually calling me into Your presence. Thanks for reminding us that weI need You more than we need anything else. As You know, we quickly forget.

Let's pray for our country

Did you know that during World War II one of Churchill’s advisers organized a group of people who stopped what they were doing for one minute every day to collectively pray for the safety of England and its people and for peace?

There is a group Americans who are organizing the same thing for our nation. Every evening at 8 p.m. (central time), they stop whatever they are doing and spend one minute in pray for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, and for America to return to a Godly nation. Let's join them in this prayer.

Lord, we humble ourselves before Your majesty and acknowledge our total lack of wisdom without You. Forgive us, and defeat the lies of the enemy that tell us to depend only on ourselves. Thank You for guarding our nation from the recent bombing attempt on Delta airlines. We look to You for continued guidance and protection.

Let's pray for the global advance of the Gospel

The Internet is a powerful global tool that can be used to take the Gospel to many nations. Why not "forward" this e-mail to all your believing friends and encourage them to do the same? Eventually, we could encourage millions of God’s people to fast and pray on behalf of our world and the furtherance of the Gospel.

Lord, though the Internet is being used for many ungodly purposes, yet You have created the ability for pictures and words to travel through the air. Give us dreams about how we can start to use what You made to bring glory to Your Name worldwide.

Our united prayers are the most powerful asset we have as God's people.
